“Heeling Hearts

After the death of a loved one, we often find ourselves feeling overwhelmed, isolated, and physically and emotionally exhausted. Camp H.O.P.E.’s theme this year is about “Heeling Hearts.” In a loving,  natural, safe environment, we will have an opportunity to share our unique experiences of grief and change, while honoring our loved ones. Our theme reflects our ability to look to nature and the animal kingdom for guidance and wisdom. In animals, we can see our own strengths and qualities reflected…

“Acceptance”

Animals have a way of accepting without qualification.  They don’t care how a person looks or what they say.  An animal’s acceptance is non-judgmental, forgiving and uncomplicated.  They accept you the way you are, flaws and all!

“Physical Contact”

It is well established that touch is very important for the nourishment of our mind and spirit.  In many cases, having an animal to hug, hold and touch can make a world of difference to those that are hurting,

“Physiological Benefits”

Many people are able to relax when animals are present.  Tests have shown that the decrease in heart rate and blood pressure can be dramatic.

“Spiritual Benefits”

Some people feel spiritual fulfillment and a sense of oneness with life and nature when they are with animals.  Some have defined their relationship with animals and nature as part of sustaining life energy and/or part of their communion and relationship with spirituality and their higher being.
