Ten Reasons Why You Should Choose
Hospice of the North Coast
1. Small Size
Small size means personalized service. Our staff has chosen to work for Hospice of the North Coast because each one of us is
dedicated to providing the finest quality of care possible. Because we are small with a well-defined service area we can guarantee the most individualized care possible.
2. Non-Profit Status
We truly are a non-profit, service oriented
agency that reports to a volunteer Board
of Directors. All revenue received is directed back into the agency with the sole purpose of providing quality care. Our dedicated volunteer Board members
ensure that the focus of the agency is to provide the highest degree of care for
every patient, not profit for the agency.
3. Physician Coverage
Physicians may choose to remain involved in their patient’s hospice care or turn the care over to our medical director who specializes in hospice and palliative care. The medical director works in partnership with the hospice
staff to ensure that the patients' needs will be managed by a team of competent and caring professionals.
4. 24 Hour "On-Call" Coverage
Hospice of the North Coast has twenty-four (24) hour, seven (7)
day a week on-call RN services. Although it is our goal to anticipate problems
before they occur, questions or concerns that arise after working hours are handled in an expeditious, knowledgeable manner. In addition, because we maintain a small service area, the on-call RN is able to respond in a timely manner for both
consultations and home visits.
5. Transitional Counseling and Complementary Therapies Department
Hospice of the North Coast recognizes that not all of the concerns at end of life are medical in nature. Therefore, we offer a variety of complementary
therapies such as massage therapy, Reiki, meditation, guided relaxation and
Healing Touch. In addition, life story collections and messages for loved
ones can be created in audio, video or written format.
6. Volunteer Services
We have dedicated volunteers who can step in to provide additional support services for a patient and their family. These services may include respite for the caregiver, companionship, a sympathetic ear, light errands or even a visit by a loving pet therapy companion.
7. The HOPE Bereavement Center
At Hospice of the North Coast you will find a premier Bereavement Department providing
bereavement counseling services to all members of the community. A variety of specialized programs are available to address the unique needs of each individual
and family through one-on-one and/or group support. Support encompasses such
areas as traumatic loss; loss of a child; and caregiver, teen and child support.
8. Camp HOPE (Healing Outdoor Play Experience)
Sponsored by Hospice of the North Coast, Camp HOPE is for families with children who have experienced the loss of a loved one. It is an annual family weekend
retreat of healing activities and fun. Hosted at Green Oak Ranch in Vista,
it is offered at a minimum cost to families. Camp HOPE expenses are supplemented
by corporate and community donations.
9. Spiritual Support
Hospice of the North Coast is committed to the care of the whole person. We embrace the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of our patients and families. For that reason, spiritual support is offered as part of our comprehensive plan of care. Respecting all religious values, beliefs
and practices, our spiritual counselors are tireless in their efforts to provide support through prayer, music, or simply by their presence.
10. The Best End of Life Care
You want the best in end of life care. Small, with a focus on the specific
individual needs of both patients and families, Hospice of the North Coast is dedicated
to providing the highest quality of individualized care.
