NERICE KAUFMAN APPOINTED EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF HNC

Carlsbad, CA … Nerice Kaufman, MDiv, MA, LMFT, has been appointed Executive Director of Carlsbad-based Hospice of the North Coast (HNC). Kaufman says she is pleased to return to the nonprofit arena. She states, “Since beginning my career in 1994 as a hospice chaplain, my heart has always been in nonprofit service. I am excited to lead what is widely considered the premier organization in North County San Diego. ”

Kaufman has amassed wide-ranging expertise in hospice management, operations and community outreach. Prior to joining HNC in February 2010, Kaufman was Administrator of Silverado Hospice in San Diego. Previously, she served from 2000-2007 as Community Program Manager at The Elizabeth Hospice in Escondido; along with HNC, one of only three free-standing nonprofit hospices in San Diego County. Kaufman, who also is an ordained minister, reveals, “Hospice is more than my profession; it has long been my calling.”

Kaufman, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, is certified in hospice administration, case management and bereavement counseling. She holds a Master’s in Psychology Counseling, a Master’s in Divinity and a Bachelor’s in Sociology. She resides in Vista.

The nonprofit Hospice of the North Coast was established in 1980 to fill the need for comprehensive, compassionate hospice care in North County San Diego. Since its inception, it has grown in services, staff and clients; it currently provides a full spectrum of programs, including bereavement support, to terminally ill clients and their families. To fulfill its mission of maintaining dignity, comfort and the highest quality of life for those it serves, regardless of ability to pay, Hospice of the North Coast hosts fundraising events, operates a family support camp and resale shop, and maintains a cadre of volunteers.
