Patient Care Volunteers
Patient care volunteers work directly with patients and families. They are special people who share the hopes, fears and strengths of patients and families as they go through this experience. At a time when many patients and families feel isolated from others, a volunteer's presence can do more for them than a thousand kind words.
The volunteer is a member of the hospice team who provides support such as emotional support, light errands, reading, writing letters, respite for the family and lending an ear. He/she must be at least 18 years of age and complete a screening process and a training program. The training includes topics such as ethical issues, grief support, spiritual care, and communication skills. Qualifications include: compassion, dependability, effective listening skills, a non-judgmental attitude and a respect for client confidentiality.
Administrative Volunteers
Administrative volunteers work in the office and perform various duties such as typing, answering phones, assistance with mailings, various computer tasks and special projects. Our office hours are Monday through Friday 8:30-5:00. Our office is located in Carlsbad, CA at 5441 Avenida Encinas, Suite A. We are just west of Interstate 5 between Cannon Road and Palomar Airport Road.
